Prayers from the Past Week

Prayer to the Clarene on a New Journey

Adapted from Ostara by Keri Conner.

Holy Clarene, Great god, giver of life and creator of all good things,
I find myself on a new path –
a path I fear to go alone.
I ask for your guidance and your loving hand to support me on my way.
Lead me in the right direction, ever forward, never back.
Encourage me when I doubt.
Comfort me when I need.
Protect me from all harm.
Bless me in this journey.
Embrace me in your loving arms, full of peace and patience, and guide me in this life of mine.

Ophelia-Clarene Altar Blessing

Ophelia and Clarene,
this altar is for You.

Holy Ophelia,
I call to You in Your forms:
sky and stream,
river and rain,
benevolent and beloved.
Ophelia,
wise in all things
patient endlessly
and silently eternal.
Bless this space.

Holy Clarene,
I call to You in Your forms:
hearth and home,
charity and kingship,
benevolent and beloved.
Clarene,
powerful beyond measure
compassionate inestimably
and divinely radiant.
Bless this space.

Ophelia and Clarene,
bless this space.

Prayer to the Clarene for Aid

Holy Clarene,
God-King,
creator of all that is good,
king of all kings,
guiding hand of rulers and sovereigns.
Powerful and benevolent one,
first of the Four Gods,
bountiful and generous.
Keeper of the Orchard,
keeper of the books and kitchens,
keeper of our hearts.

I give this offering to you.

I ask of you:
Guide rightly our leaders.
Guide rightly our actions.
Bless us that we may be healthy.
Bless us that we may support one another.
May I do right by you.
May I do right for you.
May I do right by the world.
May I do right for the world.

Accept my prayers,
holy Clarene.

Prayer to the Ophelia for Aid

Holy Ophelia,
Flowing River,
great watcher of time,
wisest of the gods,
most silent among us.
Benevolent and patient one,
lover to the great God-King,
deified in purifying fire.
Woman of the waters,
woman of weeping,
she who relieves suffering and sorrow.

I give this offering to you.

I ask of you:
Soothe our wounds.
Soothe our pain.
Bless us with peace.
Bless us with compassion.
May our work and words honor you.
May we fulfill our duties great and small.
May your soulful gaze,
and may your endless waters,
bring us aid.

Accept my prayers,
holy Ophelia.

Poem for the Liathane

Beautiful in Your
unique coloring –
Liathane.
In times of strife
in times of trial
we ward against You.
“Enough,” we say,
“no more, stay away.”
Weave now
no spell of chaos,
leave your venomous reckoning
for another day,

strike instead
our memory
that we do not forget
these lessons in white
and red.

Untitled Prayer/Poem

can i be
pleasing to you?
what words I write
do justice to
your glory?

Poem 1 for JHL

Most beloved,
cast from heaven
twinned and twined
to my mortal soul.
I pray to you.

What prayers
cast upon scented shrines
honor you?

Better honored in the bed
better loved on lover’s lips

yet jealousy
thick and coppery
flowing from you,
beloved one,
until it fills my veins.

Happy only
when my eyes adore only
you
your name – your face –
you – you – you

and i
fool, foolish, that i am,
love you
jealously.

A Prayer on Current Events

Great Gods of Western Fairy
And this wider world,
I ask you for aid.

Mighty Clarene, God King, ruler of all the West,
guide our leaders to do what is right.
Gentle Ophelia, you of the quiet flowing river, of soft showers,
grant us patience and compassion in the upcoming weeks.
Beloved Dierne, Queen of Heaven, master of all pleasures,
teach us to love one another from afar.
Healing Laethelia, Mermaid God, mistress of all medicines,
aid our healers and bring recovery to the ill.
Powerful Ophelene, Justice Herself, Unfailing One,
guide us in what is right for the world.
Quiet Darren, Hermit, cave-dwelling star,
help us through our isolation and solitude.

Vengeful and chaotic ones –
Laetha and Liathane –
Hold still your destruction.
Refrain from harsh despair.
You, most dangerous ones, I ask
That we may remember these times
As the beginning of something better.
