Patheos Post: Hell Month in 2020

Hell Month is supposed to be about being able to acknowledge the awful parts of our lives, our existence, our society, but it was always capped off by an inspirational, aspirational emotion. The Gods win over evil (whatever that is). The injustices of the world are righted. We aspire and achieve hope. You make it through hell.

You make the world better.

Music for Hell Month

Today is July 1st, the start of Hell Month. I’ll be posting later today a bit more about Hell Month, but for now I wanted to share some songs I’ve been enjoying lately that have gotten me in this month’s ‘mood’.

Panic! at the Disco’s new album has been an enjoyable listen, though the songs that specifically make me think of Hell Month and the first Season of myths in the Otherfaith are High Hopes, One of the Drunks, and Old Fashioned.

Katzenjammer’s Demon Kitty Rag has been an addictive song as well, and I feel fits the themes of this holy month.

I’ve also included two covers of Persona 5’s Life Will Change.

Here are a variety of covers of Running Up That Hill. I was listening to these a month or two ago but think they can work for July as well.

Finally, eve’s Demon Dance Tokyo, which contains lyrics concerning ‘starving’ and ‘consuming’ – matching up with Misia and his fall/destruction that occurs mythologically.
